Interview: Kabir Anurag on his career so far

Red Bull Ring also hosted the second round of the 2024 Euro 4 Championship and on Friday, I had the chance to have an interview with current US Racing driver and Alpine Academy member, Singapore's Kabir Anurag.

In the second round of the season, Anurag had a difficult opening set of races, but achieved a top 15 in the third race and currently sits 25th in the standings with one round remaining.

MA: We're here at the Red Bull Ring, how has this weekend been so far?

KA: "It's been very wet and cold, frozen fingers, It's what we're used to."

"It's definitely been a bit confusing with the conditions, but we're trying to get it right, overall, as a team I think we're doing a good job and we're closing the gap so, I think in quali we'll see a good step and I'm looking forward to it".

Anurag made the jump from Karting to F4 towards the end of last season, joining R-ace GP for the Paul Ricard round of last year's Italian F4 championship, before switching to US Racing for the remainder of the season, achieving a best result of 17th in the second Paul Ricard race.

The Singaporean driver stayed with US Racing for the 2024 Formula Winter Series, where he would take two top 5 finishes towards the end of the season, ending the season 14th in the standings.

MA: This is your first full season of Formula 4 racing, you joined US Racing towards the end of last year. How are you getting along with them?

KA: "I'd say the team is very good."

"Having one of the best cars of the grid is always something that as a driver, gives you confidence."

"You're more focused on yourself and you also have very good teammates and all the resources that allow you to improve, so for me, It's always good to have p1 data and a really good car."

MA: We haven't seen many drivers from Singapore go to F4. How did you get into motorsports?

KA: "We don't necessarily have a big motorsport culture but we have a very big event and i think that kind of just drew my attention."

"It's something that made me want to chase that dream and of course it started with karting, and after some time of developing and learning I've taken that next step from karting from Formula 4 and It's just the start for now."

MA: Who has been the most important person of your career?

KA: "I'd have to say, my manager [Pavan Ravishankar], because I've worked with him for a very long time and my parents of course because without your parents you can't even drive the car."

"I think a lot of people were important to my career, so just to name one It's difficult, but there are a lot of good people in my journey."
